Second Cleric Inflames Tensions in Australia Responded to by Jennifer L. Pass
RE: Second Cleric Inflames Tensions in Australia

This article seems to be written from the perspective that only men rape only women. While that is certainly not true, with respect to this perspective, I would like to point out that the comments of Hilaly and Omran are not only victim blaming, but also denigrating toward men, indicating that they have absolutely no control over themselves. Additionally, stating that male responses are impulsive and cannot be helped is in direct opposition to the very organized manner in which Skaf led a gang of rapists. Finally, with regard to the influence of sermons preaching misogynistic material, at the very least, these words delivered by religious leaders perpetuate a rape culture, which in turn fosters the worldwide epidemic of rape.
