The Center for Anti-Violence Education: CAE Benefit

Organization: The Center for Anti-Violence Education

Description:
Hello friends and collegues,

As you know, I train in karate and tai chi at The Center for Anti-Violence Education (CAE), where I am also the Executive Director. I can't say enough about how important and rare CAE's anti-violence work is in our communities.

I'm participating in a punch-a-thon to raise funds for CAE's free programs for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. CAE is the only organization in New York City (and one of the few in the nation) that teaches survivors both verbal and physical strategies to help break cycles of violence in their lives and communities.

The punch-a-thon is CAE's version of a walk-a-thon or bike-a-thon. I'm asking for your support in whatever way or amount works for you. All participants will be aiming to reach a goal of 1000 punches, and each 100 of those will be dedicated to different visions of strength, empowerment and the different ways we can end violence in our communities. You can pledge a flat amount or pledge a certain amount per punch (say 2 or 10 or 50 cents). I'm grateful for any support you are able to give.

Here's how you can contribute:

  • Check: make out the check to CAE and send it to the address below.
  • Online: visit us at www.caeny.org and select "Donate Now." Mention it's for the punchathon for Tracy.

Here's a little information about The Center for Anti-Violence Education:
  • Over 25,000 people - women, teens, children, members of LGBT communities, and mores - have learned to respect and protect themselves through CAE's violence-prevention, leadership development, self-defense, and martial arts programs.
  • CAE offers free programs to women and LGBT survivors of sexual assault, intimate-partner violence and childhood sexual abuse.
  • Our sliding fee scale allows participants of all income levels to attend and our free childcare gives mothers and caregivers access to our services.
  • Our national violence-prevention curriculum has empowered over 19,000 girls ages 9 to 11.

Thanks for your support!
