Description: POSITION SUMMARY:The Manager of Political Affairs will support both the PPNYC Action Fund and the PPNYC Public Affairs Department. This position is responsible for coordinating and implementing the administrative, organizing and electoral functions of the PPNYC Action Fund. At the same time, this position supports the work of the PPNYC Public Affairs Department by helping to coordinate and implement a successful lobbying program, developing effective background information on elected officials and tracking legislators' voting records.Other duties include for the Action Fund include: coordination of Board meetings, consulting with attorneys on legal questions, acting as internal liaison with Board and staff regarding 501(c)(4) limits and appropriate activities, filing appropriate lobby and campaign finance reports with city, state and federal entities. In coordination with other staff, creates and monitors annual budget. Creates print, online and other materials to educate the public. Acts as the PPNYC Action Fund webmaster and main administrator of Action Fund GetActive center. Conducts voter registration efforts within and outside PPNYC. Other duties for the Public Affairs Department include: assisting in the development PPNYC's annual lobby plan including coordinating logistics, making appointments with elected officials, coordinating lobbying teams, and leading lobby teams as necessary. Attends and assists AVP of Government Affairs with lobby visits in Albany, in-district and in Washington, DC (periodically). Assists in the creation of materials for lobby visits. Assists in planning and leading lobby trainings for activists and staff. Keeps records of lobby visits and results. Tracks elected officials' voting records, statements and public events. Coordinates materials distribution to elected officials. Represents PPNYC at coalition meetings as necessary. GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's Degree or equivalent. Requires 3-5 years of related and/or applicable Public Affairs experience in a political or social issues setting plus a strong interest in reproductive health and rights advocacy. Internet research skills and strong written and verbal skills a must. Some experience in policy research and analysis and marketing clinical or social services a real plus. Must have working knowledge of on-line advocacy systems.
POSITION SUMMARY:The Legislative Associate position is a combination of policy analysis and community liaising. Responsible for tracking issues related to reproductive health, healthcare delivery, and sex education. Advises and counsels on city and state policies, regulations, and legislation that could substantially affect reproductive justice. Researches, writes, and reviews a wide range of materials to promote PPNYC's advocacy, public information and promotional objectives. Also responsible for building and retaining targeted collaborative partnerships with sister organizations and coalition partners consistent with PPNYC's advocacy, lobbying and legislative goals. GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:Requires Bachelor's Degree or equivalent. Requires 2 years of related and/or applicable experience. Ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to advancing reproductive healthcare, superb research and writing skills, and experience in legislative analysis.
