Editorial Policy

The Alliance is pleased to publish announcements from organizations working to combat sexual violence.

II. We accept the following categories of announcement:
  • Job opportunities
  • Program Announcements
  • Volunteer Opportunities
  • Action Alerts
  • Group Counseling Announcements
In order to determine which announcements will be posted, we rely on a number of criteria. We attempt to limit the overall number of announcements to a maximum of 10 per week, and to a maximum of 5 per week of any given sort.

In choosing which announcements to post, we consider the following.
  • Organizations which are listed in our Resource Guide are always given precedence, and their announcements will typically be accepted automatically.
  • Action Alerts concerning legislative or political issues are reviewed on a case-by-case basis for consistency with the Alliance's overall strategy and with the positions of our Policy Committee.  (A list of our policy positions is here.)
  • Private and fee-based service announcements will be posted on a space-available basis, provided that they are relevant specifically to New York City survivors or co-survivors of sexual violence, and that they are provided by reputable organizations and licensed practitioners.
Organizations in general may not post more than one announcement weekly. Ongoing announcements may be re-posted not more often than every six months. In general only one announcement per event is permitted (i.e. we cannot post "reminder" announcements.)

The Alliance reserves the right to reject any announcement; to edit any announcement for style or content; and to attach disclaimers as we feel appropriate.

III. Announcements must be accompanied by a valid email address. This address will be added to the list to which the announcement is sent.

Announcements by organizations not in our Resource Guide must be accompanied by a full name, address, and phone number.

IV. Announcements which are accepted are edited at the Alliance's discretion, and are then posted both to our Web site and to the appropriate mailing list.

Announcements are generally processed and posted within one week, although the schedule may occasionally vary.

V. We regret that we cannot return or acknowledge unpublished announcements.

VI. All published announcements become the sole property of The New York City Alliance Against Sexual Assault.

VI. Readers should be aware that services listed by other organizations have not been reviewed by the Alliance, and that listing by the Alliance does not constitute endorsement or recommendation of the service.
